EVEREST – 24″ x 30″ – by Dr. DJ – is an acrylic (plus a few other items) painting. The canvas has been stiffened by the organic process so that it has no real border. It is endless in appearance. Each of the Marco Island Organic Series pieces has several layers of paint, then rinsed and re-rinsed (with non-toxic paints) in the Gulf of Mexico. Gulf sand and detritus are hand-rubbed into the canvas between paint applications, prior to the final painting. The canvas is cured by rolling it up tightly, sealed in plastic, and allowed to sit overnight.  Upon completion, the finished painting is highly varnished so you can touch (feel) the painting’s texture without damaging the art. You are encouraged to “feel” the art, adding another dimension to the work itself.*  The final painting is mounted on a raised island and it “floats” in a channeled tray frame. The frame is substantial – the back being 5/8″ plywood to prevent warping, and the frame is painted satin black. It is wired for hanging right out of the crate. Free Shipping in the US.
