THE TRANSFORMATION SERIES

also known as The Recycling Series

Statement

Why cardboard?

Because what we discard reveals who we are.

The Transformation Series is a collection of 76 acrylic paintings, each incorporating one or more fragments of reclaimed cardboard—material typically dismissed, crushed, and forgotten. The choice is deliberate. In the United States, 76% of recyclable material is lost to household trash. Each painting in this series stands as a single percentage point—a quiet but insistent reminder of what slips through our hands every day.

This series is not about guilt. It is about possibility.

By embedding a humble, utilitarian material into fine art, these works assert that value is not inherent—it is assigned. Cardboard becomes surface, structure, history. What was once plain becomes beautiful; what was once overlooked becomes valuable. Each piece is an act of reclamation, a vote for intention, and a testament to our capacity to create something meaningful from what we habitually cast aside without thought.

Transformation, after all, does not require grandeur.
It requires choice.

Each painting is signed and numbered, part of a finite and unrepeatable sequence. With every sub-series of ten, the value increases—mirroring the growing urgency and cumulative impact of small, deliberate acts over time.
